Over the many many years I've been a member here, this forum has always been pretty lively and has had many intriguing and intellectual members to have decent chats with, etc. Well, it still does have those faithful members such as DJ, SK, Pikamon/Pig, etc. However, this year the post counts and amount of topics created have dropped probably around tenfold in comparison to previous years. Why percisely is this? I mean, I know people age and such and find less time, but even on other forums these type of people post more then a month then we have perhaps this year.
So I think it's time for a refreshing change. And this could be done in many ways such as more Affilates, Veteran members of these boards creating more stimulating topics to post in, etc. So here's a topic for everyone to discuss about the forums current state and ideas on how to improve the activity currently. Discuss. -------------------- |

To be honest, I think it has a lot to do with our age. I mean think about it, it was basically one large group that started on this board, with some leaving/coming, but mainly the same people.
We've grown up. We're no longer those 12-16 year old kids who had time to sit at home after school and just mosey around on the computer. Hell I'd be hard pressed to find a regular on this board who isn't out of high school at this point. We're just living real life and our priorities are different. ...not to say that I don't stop to think about you guys occasionally Not only that, but our common theme that we all relate on which made us join here in the first place, Nintendo, is becoming less a part of our lives, and in this sense we can relate/discuss less. But if you're looking to improve activity, you're going to need two things. One: A reason to make people come here in the first place, and two: A reason to make people stay here. A few things that you could do along those lines are: make some active games to involve people, or start a new, fun, and exciting fan-fic (including or not including members) that would cause people to want to join. Just spitting out some ideas.... ...but on a more sappy note, it's been a honor growing up with you guys. I mean it. -------------------- |

I think everyone's grown up, and I think this can never be the forum it was (As in, a forum with jfx, tcn, e-oero, paperboy,etc...). But it can still be kicked back alive with new members. I think the best thing that could happen is that a new crop of members come and form a new base and let it become "their" forum.
Dunno if that could happen though. It'd depend on a crop of middle schoolers/highschoolers coming in, and no one here relates with that age group anymore, hell, some of us would prob be really turned off by it. We'd get more stuff like that pathetic fight between nightmaresnake and those other kids. Or we become the next Somethingawful. Bring it on -------------------- |

I also think it's mostly due to age. Me and DL are the youngest regulars here and we both just graduated high school. We're getting older, and thus are finding less and less time to surf the internet. DL just got a car, and I'm working on getting mine. Vas and a few others are in college. Pig has his own website to deal with. We just don't have time.
I do still pop in here almost daily, but usually don't do much as there's not much to do. -------------------- |

Its sad but something we can't change
Ah well. I'm not a much of a gamer as I use to be but with Golden Sun 3 releasing very soon I went back to play the original and I just beat it again over an hour ago. Brilliant. Going to start GS: TLA later today. I feel 14 again. -------------------- 16x
